8th March marks International Women’s Day and nothing makes me feel more powerful and most like a full-blown Lady Boss than wearing a trouser suit.
With spring fashion officially underway, there are plenty of new trends and styles to try now. But if you’re going to commit to one new look this season, make it the pantsuit. Serving up some empowering Working Girl vibes, the power suit is back and in full force. Whether you want to try the ’80s-inspired check blazer, an ultra-feminine pink pantsuit, or a mini skirt suit, there’s a take on the look for everyone to test drive.
How to wear pantsuits in 2019?
The phrase ‘all is in’ has never been truer. You can wear them with sneakers, or heels, it will look amazing either way, it’s just a matter of personal style. You can wear a t-shirt under the blazer, a button down, a sweater, a blouse, or a bustier top. It all depends on where you’re going.
Dress It Down
For a more casual take, I want to style with a plain white tee and sneakers that don’t make the look feel so buttoned up.
A simple tee will allow the suit to be the main focus of the outfit or a graphic/slogan tee can accentuate a monochromatic suit and provide more character and originality.
A cropped pair of trousers makes way for a more playful shoe opportunity. For a suiting look outside the office, try a cropped top instead of a blouse.
Accessorize just right
Keep it sleek with streamlined accessories: a clean white t-shirt, simple strappy heels, and dainty gold jewelry.
As always, I strongly believe accessorizing is such an important part of any look. For the monochromatic trouser suit, a pair of statement earrings, a pearl hairpin (which is so in right now) can add just a touch of glam or layered necklaces would look amazing against a plain t-shirt.
On the other hand, the right handbag can change the whole mood of the monochromatic casual suit look. A waist bag would pay homage to street culture fashion and a shoulder bag would keep the look relaxed and put together. To top it off, you simply can never go wrong with a pair of sunglasses for a high-profile, mysterious look as I always do.
Pair with Sneakers
Nothing says stylish, yet effortless more than a pair of sneakers. You would be surprised at how well a trouser suit can be complemented with such a casual footwear option. Sneakers that are minimal tend to be the easiest options, but do not be afraid to opt for the more trendy chunky sneaker option for the ultimate street style look.
For an undone look, skip the socks, but as we know, socks are trending high right now. It would be the perfect opportunity to show off a new frilly or bright-colored pair.
